We Are Not Going Away

We Are Not Going Away

The Finale of a 5 part blog series

I am not LGBTQIA+.
But I am standing here.
Still here. Still speaking. Still listening.

I didn’t become an ally because of politics. I became one because of people.

Through my World of Warcraft guild — one I’ve led for two years — I got to know incredible LGBTQIA+ members who trusted me enough to be real.
They didn’t always talk about the hard things. But I started listening. I started learning.
And once you really see what people go through just to be themselves?
You don’t unsee it. You don’t walk away.

That’s what allyship became for me: not a label, but a promise.

Because after everything — the grief, the cruelty, the ignorance dressed in righteousness,
you are still here.
And I need you to know:
I see you. I believe you. I am with you.

And you are not going anywhere.
Because you are not the problem.
You are the future.

This world has done its best to erase you, to quiet you, to shame you into smallness.
They’ve tried to legislate your worth, invalidate your joy, and pretend that tolerance is the same as justice.
But I’ve seen enough now to understand:

This isn’t about politics.
It never was.

It’s about fear.
Fear of freedom.
Fear of self-determination.
Fear of people who dare to live out loud what others only whisper in the dark.

But let me say this clearly.

To every queer kid who's ever flinched at a slur.
To every trans soul who's scanned a room for safety before exhaling.
To every elder who paved the way and every teenager now lighting it on fire again:

You are not going away.
And neither am I.

This is more than a post.
This is a declaration.
A love letter.
A line in the sand.

Because while they shout hatred into microphones and hide their bigotry behind “belief,”
I’ve seen your tenderness.
I’ve seen your resistance.
I’ve seen your creativity, your joy, your chosen families, your unstoppable light.

You, who love in color.
You, who stitch together lives out of threads the world said were useless.
You, who dare to be fully human in a culture that trades humanity for power.

You are miraculous.
Not because you suffer.
But because you survive — and you love anyway.

And let me say this now for anyone still watching from the sidelines:

If your faith teaches you to hate someone’s existence, your faith has failed you.
If your “concern” for children makes you target queer kids,
you were never protecting them — you were silencing them.
If your empathy ends where someone else’s identity begins,
it was never empathy at all.

I cannot undo the damage that has been done.
I cannot promise safety to those still fighting to breathe.
But I can promise this:

I will not look away.
I will not “stay out of it.”
I will not water down the truth to make bigots comfortable.

Because you deserve more than tolerance.
You deserve celebration.
You deserve safety without conditions.
And you deserve allies who don’t just post in June and disappear in July.

So let this be my vow.
Let this be the echo in the dark, the voice in the fire, the whisper that becomes a roar:

You are not alone.
You are not a phase.
You are not an agenda.
You are not going away.

You are loved.
You are worthy.
You are here.

And I — I am standing beside you.

Forever.

For every soul who needed this said out loud.
For every person fighting to be seen.
For every heart still beating against the odds.

We are not going away.

Lots of Love - Thîrteen
